Traveling in the Winter

The temperatures have begun to drop as the leaves turn orange, then red, and fall to the ground. As winter inches nearer, we may feel like the travel season is over, especially to the beach! But even though Myrtle Beach is often looked at as a summer vacation spot, this doesn’t have to be the case. In fact, Garden City Realty offers winter rentals—and you may have just found a new travel season!

People who travel south in the winter are known as snowbirds, but what brings them here year after year? First, the weather in Garden City Beach stays beautiful year-round and the palm trees stay leafy. In fact, you may be able to catch a 70-degree day in January! There is also a serenity that comes in the off-season. With smaller crowds and cheaper prices, you may enjoy some of your favorite activities even more.

So, what are some fun things to do in the winter? Well, if you’re looking for a quick getaway, you can enjoy the quietness of your rental—at a cheaper, off-season price. Our ocean-side locations offer a private spot for you and the family to escape the every-day. Fall asleep to the ocean waves and wake up to the sun over the Atlantic. You may just want to stay in and enjoy board games and movie marathons with the family!

If you’re looking to get out and enjoy the sites, most of Myrtle Beach’s famous attractions stay open. Stroll the Boardwalk and enjoy shopping and dining options. Or, check out Helicopter Adventures for a birds-eye-view of this coastal city. Ripley’s Aquarium makes for a fun, educational day under the sea, and Pirate’s Voyage is an exciting dining experience for your whole group.

Brookgreen Gardens also features the annual Night of a Thousand Candles. Beginning at the end of November, this evening is filled with over 2,700 hand-lit candles and sparkling lights. You can stroll the gardens with hot cocoa or a glass of wine, listening to holiday tunes. There are other holiday activities, too, like Christmas themed shows at the Carolina Opry.

Still looking to enjoy the beach? In the winter months, the beaches open up for horseback riding! Schedule a trail ride along the Myrtle Beach State Park, or, if you want to get out on the waves, bundle up and take a deep-sea fishing trip!

With all of these options, at cheaper rates, traveling to Garden City Beach in the Winter may just be your new tradition.
