Dog-Friendly Activities

We see our pets as parts of the family. They live with us, sleep with us, and share in some of our happiest moments. Although we can’t take them everywhere, we sure can try to include them as much as possible—even when it comes down to the family vacation. Now, it may seem impossible to include your furry friend on your trip, but with these dog-friendly locations and activities, you won’t have to leave them again!

Let’s start with some dog-friendly activities in the area. Of course, the Grand Strand is home to a multitude of outdoor activities. Since it is after Labor Day, most of the beaches are now open for pets. However, Huntington Beach State Park is dog-friendly year-round! The beach offers enough space for your family and pup, with room to splash in the water and toss toys in the sand! You may also want to check out Vereen Memorial Gardens. With more than 115 acres of marshland and woods, you and your pet can roam for hours across the nature trails and boardwalks.

Myrtle Beach is also home to two Barc Parcs. The Barc Parc playgrounds are fenced in spaces for your pup to romp and roam with other dogs. They have agility courses, water fountains, you name it! Plus, they are the only places within Myrtle Beach city limits where your dog can run without a leash.

Now, let’s get to the good stuff: dog-friendly dining. Myrtle Beach has some really cool spots that just happen to be dog-friendly, too! The 8th Avenue Tiki Bar is right on the beach. With outdoor access and a patio, your dog is welcome to join you for dinner! ART Burger Sushi Bar is another beach-side favorite. Located on the boardwalk, this restaurant has burgers, sushi, cocktails, and room for pets on the patio! Bay Naturals Healthy Market & Kitchen is a local health food store known for its fresh and delicious options. With outdoor seating, they are a one-stop-shop for you and your dog.

If you’re still looking for ways to enjoy time with your pet, consider a cause. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s brings in hundreds of people and pooches for a walk around Market Common and the Walk for the Animals at Grand Park also features a 5k for you and your dog!

With all of these options, you can explore the Grand Strand with your best friend.
