The pictures and property description were accurate. The property overall was decently clean (could use a deep clean though). Garden City Realty provided great customer service throughout the entire rental process. The house is nicely located an easy walk to the beach. The house desperately needs a washer and dryer. There was water leaking on the pavement underneath the house (coming from the locked portion, maybe AC unit?) The mattresses in the the two rooms with two beds each were very loud (definitely time for replacement).- Christopher B. from Black Mountain, Posted: 08/19/2024
Overall, we love this property. We have stayed at the house the past 2 years. However, the beds/mattresses in the front two bedrooms (the rooms with 2 beds) were uncomfortable; I recommend that the owner upgrade to better beds/mattresses. I would also recommend some anti-slip applicators in the shower, as the shower floors were slippery when wet.- Anonymous from Marion, Posted: 07/08/2024
Seven married men shared the house starting the week of daylights saving time. The house proved comfortable for socializing. As for sleeping arrangements, you better be friends with your roomie as two groups will have to share a kings size bed. The info said the house would sleep 10-12 but not the case if you need privacy during your sleep. The double beds(4) had out dated spring mattresses that proved noisy and soft. The only other issue was no washer/dryer. If you’re a family with kids and staying here it might be a little much carrying clothes to a corner venue. The location was great, the dock out back was great and overall we had a great trip. Replace the mattresses and add washer/dryer and this would be an awesome place to stay.- Anonymous from Easley, Posted: 03/18/2024
Our family was very happy with our stay the week of Thanksgiving. The Boat House has a great layout. Great view of the beach from the front porch and amazing inlet view from the back porch. We had a lot of fun fishing from the dock. The location is great with a short walk to the pier, arcade, and shops. We contacted the rental management service along with maintenance for a couple of issues and they were very accommodating and corrected the issues promptly. We look forward to our next stay and would recommend to anyone.- Anonymous from Williamston, Posted: 11/29/2023
Overall The Boat House is a great property if it fits your needs. It's on the marsh so you can fish/crab off the dock and it's a good spot to launch kayaks (check the tides first though, during low tide launching or landing would be tough with the low water level). Public beach access is a quick walk, straight out the front door and across 2 fairly slow streets. There's plenty to do in the area though you don't really have to leave the rental with the kitchen to cook in and the marsh and beach to explore.
The AC worked great, there was not a bug to be seen which is amazing for a marsh area, and upon walking in it smelled clean; no musty beach house smell at all. The water in the shower gets HOT, even with everyone using it back to back before heading out for dinner, and the water pressure is good. The house condition is good; it's a beach rental that's been in service for a while, so it's not in mint condition, but it's clean and the appliances worked great. While it's nothing fancy, it was a comfortable fit for our crew of 7 with plenty of parking and enough seating.
Minor nit picking, but not having a washer and dryer is a small downside. With the beach and marsh you'll want to bring plenty of clean clothes to change into. The dock is small so it can limit the number of people sitting on it and fishing, and during low tide it sits on the mud with a tilt towards the water. An included grill would be nice as there's plenty of space outside. Some of the outside seating could use updating to something newer and a bit more comfortable. The sliding glass door to the back porch was a bit of a bear to open and close.
Overall we had a great week and would consider the house again. None of the minor cons prevented an enjoyable week, and the rental agency team were helpful and very nice.

We had a great time! House was very clean. We had evrrthing we needed. There was some water bugs tho. We enjoyed our stay- Anonymous from Myrtle Beach, Posted: 10/17/2022
Overall we enjoyed our stay at The Boat House. The house had plenty of room. Bedrooms were all a nice size. We enjoyed sitting on the screened porch overlooking the inlet with our coffee in the morning.
In the description it stated new living room furnishings. I did not feel that was an accurate statement due to the wear and a few stains. The ceiling fans thru out the house needed work. Either they made loud noises where you did not want run them or you could not turn the fan on because the pull string was broken. I would suggest that the furniture in the screen porch and front porch be replaced. We were also there during King Tide. Beware that the inlet waters will come into the backyard and the street in front of house will flood.- Anonymous from Lynchburg , Posted: 09/24/2022

The house was nice. The beds really need to be replaced they are very hard. The ceiling fans also need to be looked at. Other than that it was a nice stay.- Anonymous from Georgetown, Posted: 06/07/2021
For the price it was perfect for our family vacation.- Tom M. from Greenville, Posted: 04/27/2021
The house needs some updates, needs all new beds. Overall, great location! Had a great week with the family.- Geoff H. from Darlington, Posted: 06/23/2020
Always perfect. We love the area.- Anonymous from Pelion, Posted: 11/04/2019
The only problems with the house is the back sliding door is very hard to open, the front door lock keeps sticking, and all the beds need to be replaced in very bad condition, had to go out and buy egg crates to put on mattresses and every movement on bed made loud noise very annoying.- Anonymous from Georgetown, Posted: 09/03/2019
Great location and easy access to the beach and the inlet. Big and roomy. We kayaked from the dock and enjoyed the easy access to water. Great view from the porch in the front. We left a list of observations that may make the stay more comfortablee for others and do not wish this to seem to diminish the enjoyment of the house. It is a TAD dated but as we said "it is a beach house" and we felt comfortable to lounge anywhere. I like the recessed access to the bedrooms, it gives more privacy and still provides access to the bathrooms. Tell the owners, "Thank You". 1. WiFi is needed. 2. A dishwasher would make it easier. 3. The glass sliding door could use handles on the inside and outside for easy use and it needs to have the track cleaned because the door sticks along the way. 4. Some type of sun roller curtains on the porch in the back to block the sun in the afternoon would allow more use of the porch and perhaps some fans when the air is still. 5. The back stairs has a broken step and a bad nail sticking out that needs to be removed.- John M. from Saint Marys, Posted: 06/03/2019
We have been very pleased with our stay
each time we com- Cathleen S. from DeRuyter, Posted: 06/01/2019
Older home but a great stay.Enjoyed sitting on the back porch watching the marsh. Kids fished from dock and enjoyed. Beds need to be upgraded and no diswasher. Floors in bathrooms dusty behind doors. Roof leaks bd in both bathrooms but we reported as soon as we seen the water.- Anonymous from Sumter, Posted: 05/20/2019
The house has a perfect view of the beach and the inlet. We enjoyed our stay. The beds need to be replaced.- Anonymous from Pelion, Posted: 09/10/2018
Loved it, only thing I would change would be to add 1 or 2 T.V.'s and a washer and dryer.- Jeremy D. from Greenville, Posted: 08/28/2018
Overall this property was a great bargain for it's location to the pier and the beach access. However, there were some concerns and easy fixes to improve the comfort/safety of this vacation home. First the beds need to be replaced they are super old and have no support. The recliners in the sectional do not work at all. My husband had to repair 2 ceiling fans the first day we arrived or we would have heard and off balanced squeaking fan all night. There were no lights on the dock at all. We mounted to solar ones to the polls for safety reasons. The other safety issue is the front steps. Our daughter missed the last step because it was no covered like the rest of the steps in the green outdoor carpet, which made it look like you have no more steps before being on the concrete under the house. Needless to say, she fell carrying her luggage to the car and sprained her ankle and had bruises and cuts from this fall.- Timmy C. from Moncks Corner, Posted: 06/17/2018
The house looked exactly like the pictures. It could use some updating of the kitchen and furniture. The main ceiling fan in the living room didn't work and the main back sliding door was hard to open. None of the knives were sharp enough and there wasn't a single pair of scissors! I never knew how much I missed scissors lol! But as far a comfortably, super comfy! The outdoor shower was awesome after the beach. The dock was nice as well but could use some type of shelter from the sun, we lost one beach umbrella due to wind, trying to shelter us. I would stay here again, even if the renovations aren't done. I also wish there was a washer and dryer on the property. A maintenance man came to change the air filter while we were there, super nice and humble! So was the housekeeper who came to vacuum the floors when I asked for someone to come. Southern hospitality at its finest!!- Elizabeth H. from Collegeville, Posted: 08/15/2016
Pros: Great location - easy walk to the beach, pier and arcade, with beautiful views of the inlet and nice, partial view of the ocean.
Spacious living area and table seats up to 8 with more stools at the kitchen bar. Comfortable, but dated.
Cons: Needs amenities like wi-fi (for people who work remotely, kids on i-pads, etc.)and extended TV channels (we had to leave the house with a 3-year-old and infant to watch Coastal win the National Baseball Championship). Some updating needed to sliding glass doors - they are a little dangerous with small children.
Take the kids to Wild, Water and Wheels - Sunday and Monday they have good rates!!
Pirate Ship ride in Murrell's Inlet was fun for the 3-year-old, but a little pricey ($25.00 per person for about an hour ride)
Overall, we had a fun stay with the family.
We LOVE Garden City!- Anonymous from Columbia, Posted: 07/04/2016
This was the second time we have stayed there
and we were not disappointed. Will do it
again- Cathleen S. from DeRuyter, Posted: 06/08/2016
We really enjoyed staying at the Boat House! Such a short walk to the beach each day and an amazing view from the front porch! House was fully loaded with cookware, etc! Will stay again for sure!- Anonymous from Lenoir City, Posted: 08/24/2015
We had a great time .A lot of room for our entire family. The pier was broken so I reported it and they came right out and fixed it .The only negative was the day of check out the next family was there to check in before 10am said "they were friends of the family" I did meet the owner this year he was very nice.- Robin N. from Camden, Posted: 06/11/2015
My family enjoyed The Boat House. It is open, the rooms are a good size and best of all, it is on the inlet and close to the beach. All rooms are large and spacious.
The house was clean but very musty. It took a couple of days to air out. It has a lot of kitchen amenities and that was great. The sliding door is one bedroom was broken. The note said it would be repaired but it was not fixed the week we were there.
We enjoyed the large front porch facing the beach and the large screened in back porch.
I do have one major complaint, the refrigerator did not work properly. The check-in instructions tells you to put the setting one notch above normal, if you put it to cold it will not work. The instructions said to avoid opening the door often. Really, 16 people for one week and you say do not open the doors. I see why.
This house sleeps 16 people and the rental fee is not cheap. I feel like we were cheated. You would think they could pay to put in a refrigerator that works. We were there for a week and the ice maker never completely filled with ice, we had to buy ice daily to keep our water cold, we purchased a cake with whipped icing and had to keep it cold, the icing ran off.
We were not happy with that. $1,400 plus and no cold refrigeration and rusty shelves. I took pictures of to prove that fact.
Replace that item and I would give it a 5 star.
We chose this house because we like to fish and we can do that from our back yard. Garden City is great place to vacation.
A nice place to take the family for a good meal at an affordable price, Chelsea Jo's.
I would recommend this house but without a refrigerator that does not work properly, I would say keep looking.- Catherine S. from Fayetteville, Posted: 05/11/2015
The Boat House is a perfect location. Walking distance from pier and shops. The back porch view is amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and are excited to stay again.- Lisa C. from Florence, Posted: 04/13/2015
This house is not for those looking for modern and sleek. It is for those looking for exceptional views of the ocean (in the distance) and the marsh. It has a wonderful yard that is perfect for setting up a game of bean bag toss and the dock makes a great place to set out a comfortable chair and just watch the tide change. The interior needs work but we found it to be clean and comfortable for the 6 of us. The bedrooms are situated 2 on each side of the house and with a small bathroom to share for each set of bedrooms. The living/dining room is in the center and the kitchen is very large and well equipped with pans, plates, and utensils. There is no dishwasher but that was not a problem. The kitchen also has a large counter separating that space from the living/dining area. This works great for setting up buffet style meal service. I will give this property 4 stars on condition because there are some fixes that should be attended to and the furniture could use some updating (although I found the bed very comfortable. The biggest plus for this house is its' location for the price asked. We had a great time and will definitely consider this house in the future.- Deborah L. from Maple City, Posted: 04/06/2015
If you are looking for an affordable place with a great view, this is it! There is an unobstructed view of the ocean from the front deck, but the view on the creek side is BEAUTIFUL! For those who love to fish, just sit right on the dock and cast your rod. There is ample parking, and a beautiful deck on both the front and back for you to enjoy the sea breeze. The ocean and pier is within walking distance. 16 people can sleep comfortably. The house is quaint but charming. We hope to be back really soon!- Anonymous from Andrews, Posted: 11/19/2014
The house is in a great location. Really enjoyed access to both sea and inlet. The only issue I had was no remote for the tv. Three remotes that did not work on anything. A few minor issues with house maintance but nothing that interfered with my vacation. Would rent the house again.- Charles W. from Johnson City, Posted: 10/21/2014
we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Boat House in Garden City, SC. Would recommend this house and its excellent location.- Lisa C. from Florence, Posted: 04/22/2014
This was the best all the way round. The children could fish day in day out. You could walk to the ocean in minutes.- Kim H. from Lexington, Posted: 08/27/2013
We loved the open floor plan of the house. The location was great. When first got to the house we found a couple of chairs were broke but the realty company was very quick to respond about fixing them. Over all we really enjoyed our stay and considering renting same house next year.- Rhonda S. from Maryville, Posted: 05/28/2013
We love coming to the Boat House. It is a great location for us and something that our group can afford. Although the kids never complain the adults think the beds are a little soft. Other than that we love staying at the Boat House. Thanks!!- Todd/Leisa A. from Bessemer, Posted: 08/13/2012
The stay at the Boat House was a great experience. The virtual tour was very accurate,
everything it appeared to be,also a very short walk to a beautiful beach access. I am ready to book it again for next year.- Anonymous from Ewing, Posted: 05/21/2012
The toilets were slow to flush but everything else was excellent. We have already booked the Boat House for the same time next year.- David S. from Leesville, Posted: 09/12/2011
Had a great time with family. Plenty of places to seat and meet around the living area. Would have wished to have seen queen beds instead of doubles. The dock was a great place to hang out and it was such an easy walk to the beach. And really the air worked very well and the water pressure was good and hot. Can't complain!- Anonymous from Hixson, Posted: 08/08/2011
Would recommend to a friend but would qualify with what to expect. Overall the property is older and needs a face lift. The kitchen chairs were extremely uncompfortable and the cups and dishes looked like a yard sale(nothing matched). Could use a dishwasher and washer and dryer(we knew that the house did not have one). Outside shower was handy when coming from the beach. The floating pier was nice to fish and crab off of. We sprayed for ants in the kitchen and one bathroom, it took care of the problem. Airconditioning worked well, however we were not allowed to change the temperature(72F) because the thermostat was covered with a locking clear case. The front door stuck when you tried to open it. The water pressure was good. The beds were ok but the vertical blinds in the West side bedrooms were all messed up and did not close. The living room sofa was comfortable.- Don H. from Madison, Posted: 06/27/2011
