Camp Brookgreen is a one-week camp that immerses your child in nature and connects them with wildlife. Each day, campers will enjoy a variety of learning opportunities and educational experiences that incorporate science, art, and team-building skills. Campers will enjoy guided tours through our native zoo and award-winning botanical and sculpture garden. Throughout the week, students may also have the opportunity to meet animal ambassadors up close, take behind-the-scenes tours, and participate in a variety of STEM-based activities. Please register your child according to their rising grade level.
K-1st Grades | June 9 – 13 | 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. | Nature is ‘Sense-ational’ - Campers will explore their five senses by visiting different areas of Brookgreen. Through nature walks, crafts, and STEAM activities centered around our sense of hearing, smell, taste, touch, and sight. Campers will also investigate ‘sense-ational’ adaptations in the natural world, from smelly plants to animals that use their tongues to smell. K-1st Grades | June 16 – 20 | 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. | Where the Wild Things Are - Get outside and explore how WILD nature is. Campers will learn about what it takes for plants and animals to survive. We will also learn how WILD some plants and animals are – some have crazy colors to blend in, and for others, that means to stay away! Campers will also learn about our native neighbors that can be found around Brookgreen and possibly in our own backyards at home! 2nd – 3rd Grades | June 23 – 27 | 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.| Icky-ology - Take a hike on the wild side with us as we investigate all the things that are icky in the natural world! Everything from funky smells, icky habits, and slime too. Learn about wild animal adaptations that are a little icky, discover how we can utilize animal waste in the garden, meet animal ambassadors, participate in STEAM challenges, and create crafts to take home! $200.00 for members | $225.00 for non-members. 2nd – 3rd Grades | July 7 – 11 | 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. | Fantastic Beasts - Learn about animal classifications, what makes a mammal, reptile, bird, amphibian, and insect different from one another, and what adaptations these animals have. Campers will also investigate popular mythical creatures and figure out which real-life animals inspired them. 4th – 6th Grades | July 14 – 18 | 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. | If I Ran The Zoo - It takes a ZOO! It takes many to make our zoo run smoothly – everything from horticulturists and zookeepers to volunteers and more. Join us and learn all about what it takes to run a Zoo. Campers will explore habitat design, nutrition, enrichment, and a variety of other topics. An excellent experience for anyone interested in a career related to animals! 4th – 6th Grades | July 21 – 25 | 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. - STEAM Explorers - Join us for an immersive STEAM-based week. Campers will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of STEAM experiments and activities throughout the week. 6th – 12th Grades | July 28 – August 1 | 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. | Art Camp: Artful Earth - Campers will use natural elements to create works of art. During the week, we will be exploring the sculptures and natural beauty of Brookgreen as a muse for our works.
