Conveniently located close to some of the best area attractions, Garden City Beach is directly south of Surfside Beach and ends on a peninsula at the mouth of Murrells Inlet. One of the most renowned attractions in Garden City Beach is the Pier at Garden City. Other attractions include Marlin Quay Marina, Gulf Stream Cafe, Original Sam's Corner, and Sara J's Seafood Restaurant.
Just south of Garden City Beach is Murrells Inlet, a seaside community that is considered to be the "Seafood Capital of South Carolina", but is also home to some of the nation's best golf courses. Once primarily a fishing village, the town is best known for the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk, a half-mile long boardwalk overlooking a pristine salt marsh, and the many award-winning seafood and barbecue restaurants along Highway 17 Business in the central business district.
Brookgreen Gardens, a sculpture garden and wildlife preserve built on four former rice plantations, is located slightly south of Murrells Inlet. It features several themed gardens with American figurative sculptures placed in them, trails through several nature reserve ecosystems and the Lowcountry Zoo.
If you're looking for places to shop, Inlet Square Mall, The Market Common, Coastal Grand, Myrtle Beach Mall, Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing, two Tanger shopping outlets, countless strip-malls, and many more shopping facilities are all within an easy drive from Garden City Beach. Looking for some entertainment, take in a show at Alabama Theater, Medieval Times, The Carolina Opry, Pirates Voyage, and Legends in Concert. And don't forget about Ripley's Aquarium, Alligator Adventure, Hard Rock Cafe, Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, and The Pavilion Nostalgia Park.
Other points of interest close by include the waterfront community of Georgetown, the third oldest city in South Carolina and second largest seaport in South Carolina, and historic Conway with its downtown Riverwalk area nestled on the banks of the Waccamaw River. Both towns include fine dining, shopping, and historic sites.
Surfside Beach, Garden City Beach and Murrells Inlet are all close to Waccamaw Hospital and several urgent care facilities.
Whatever your desire, whatever your need, the south strand offers a little something on everyone's to-do list. We have a variety of restaurants, retail stores, miniature golf, entertainment venues, charter fishing, water sports... and of course, nothing but relaxation.

This is our second year of renting this house. It works well for our family.

This place was great for our family of eight adults and one child under age two. Greatly appreciated the crib and the high chair! There was also a pack n play, booster seat, and another crib and high chair for your use. There were pool toys, rafts, board games, cards and cornhole. Our houseful of former athletes loved the basketball and hoop.
The kitchen was one of the best equipped kitchens we have come across and we have been coming to Myrtle for thirty years. We like to cook in , we enjoy having the family around the dinner table and this house does it right. Plenty of pots, pans, dishes, silverware, etc. Love the large table and plenty of space to get around it.
The pool area is beautiful. Plenty of room here also. Great for adults. Great for kids. Lounge chairs for everyone.
I hate when I go to a nice lg. beach house and there is limited porch furniture. Not the case at the Flying Geese. Very relaxing porches.
Beds were comfortable (not always the case in houses we’ve rented before), living room furniture comfortable and enough for our large family. Everything was very, very clean.
John, the caretaker (yes, there is a caretaker, such a plus) was so nice and helpful. He was very friendly and took care of a few things for us.
Only complaint, and it’s really not a complaint, is that some bathrooms are a little tight.
I would definitely rent this house again. We like the quietness of the inlet. If you are looking for activity and people watching, inlet harbor is not for you. Our family absolutely loves it.

We had the absolute best time at the Flying Geese! The kids always had something to do to keep them occupied. The bunk room was huge and the kids loved having dance parties. With the Children entertained, the adults were actually able to enjoy all The Flying Geese had to offer. The stunning views, the large porch and just good ole fashion chit chat. The heated salt water pool was amazing for spring break because the weather was often chilly. The children also enjoyed the large driveway where they rode scooters when they weren’t having dance parties or swimming. The owners and caretaker were wonderful as well. They made sure we had everything we needed and more. We feel like we found a gem and can’t wait to go back next year to make more memories!
