Many visitors fall in love with our 60-mile coastline, abundant golf courses, boundless leisure and entertainment options, and Southern hospitality, so much so that they relocate here full-time or purchase a second residence. From North Myrtle Beach to Pawleys Island, our attractions and natural beauty are nearly as diverse as the residents who call this area home. State parks, boating, fishing, parasailing, crabbing, award-winning restaurants, nationally-ranked golf courses, shopping, and miles of white sandy beaches are just a few of the things you'll find on South Carolina's Grand Strand. So whether you're looking to soak up some rays, take in a show, hit a few tee shots, meander through the gardens or get your thrill-ride on, you've come to the right place.

For electric-excitement and neon-fun, head eight miles north of Surfside Beach and Garden City Beach to Myrtle Beach, one of the most visited destinations on the East coast. Visitors will get their fill of attractions that appeal to all ages, including; amusement parks, water parks, restaurants, festivals, live entertainment, shopping, miniature golf, and so much more. View our Myrtle Beach Rentals.

Located just south of Myrtle Beach is the small seaside town of Surfside Beach, also known as the Family Beach. Originally accessible by a single-lane sandy road, Surfside Beach was named in 1952. The region experienced significant growth during the late 1950s when the United States Air Force reactivated the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. Surfside Beach sealed its reputation as the Family Beach during the 1960s and continued to grow through annexation as the town government developed its infrastructure. In addition to miles of beaches, today's visitors can enjoy area attractions like the Surfside Beach Pier and Wild Water & Wheels. View our Surfside Beach Rentals.

The unincorporated town of Garden City Beach (Garden City) is located directly south of Surfside Beach. It extends southward approximately five-and-a-half square miles to the peninsula at the mouth of Murrells Inlet. Garden City Beach is part of the South Strand, the southern-most part of the 60-mile stretch of South Carolina beaches known as the Grand Strand. Part of Garden City Beach is located in Georgetown County; the other is in Horry County and follows the same county rules and guidelines as Myrtle Beach.

Garden City Beach and Surfside Beach are within two miles of Murrells Inlet, the "Seafood Capital of South Carolina." Here you will enjoy various activities, great local seafood, and some of the oldest restaurants along the Grand Strand. Be sure to check out the Marshwalk, where you will discover live music, breathtaking waterfront views, and a variety of dining to suit you and your family's every taste. Be sure to browse our Murrells Inlet vacation rentals too.

Located in the heart of  South Carolina's Grand Strand coast is the city of Myrtle Beach, a residential and vacation-destination community. Myrtle Beach is named after the wax myrtle, an abundant local shrub.

The city of Myrtle Beach maintains 10 miles of beach fronting the Atlantic Ocean.

The city of Myrtle Beach Website provides tourists, government, city services, and meeting information. It also features events, news, and local weather.

GEORGETOWN COUNTY GOVERNMENT

129 Screven Street, P.O. Box 421270, Georgetown

Georgetown County Beach Regulations are applicable to public beaches in the unincorporated areas of Georgetown County. Incorporated and private areas may have additional/different regulatory requirements.

One of the best things about Georgetown County is that the beaches aren’t crowded. Most of the oceanfront properties along the Georgetown County part of Garden City Beach are single-family homes and low-rise condominium complexes. There are also the beaches within the gated community of Inlet Harbour.

HORRY COUNTY GOVERNMENT

1301 Second Avenue, Conway

Horry County is responsible for approximately 14 miles of public beaches along the Grand Strand. The county is responsible for maintaining the following beaches; just south of the town limits of North Myrtle Beach to the Dunes Club in Myrtle Beach (includes Shore Drive but excludes the town of Briarcliff Acres); south of Springmaid Pier to the town limits of Surfside Beach (includes the Myrtle Beach State Park and the campgrounds); and, south of the town limits of Surfside Beach through Garden City Beach to the Georgetown county line. Lifeguards are required to be stationed along with parts of these beaches from May 15 through September 15.
