About Garden City Realty Sales
Garden City Realty was established in late June of 1973 when Martins Real Estate Company was bought by Eugene (Beau) Forshee, Fred L. Willcox and M. Murray McLendon. The first office was located in a small two-room building at the corner of Dogwood Drive and Atlantic Avenue in Garden City Beach. The office was relocated in the spring of 1978 to its present location at 608 Atlantic Avenue (Map).
Dennis McElveen, Broker-in-Charge of the Vacation Rental Department, joined Garden City Realty in 1977. Under his guidance the Vacation Rental Department has grown from 18 rentals in 1973 to approximately 540 resort homes and condominiums today.
In 2001 Garden City Realty merged with By the Sea Realty and took over the on-site office in the oceanfront Surfmaster building. The Surfmaster office rents approximately sixty 1, 2 and 3 bedroom condominiums and several penthouses on the oceanfront.
The Annual Rental Department currently has over 150 year-round residential and commercial rentals. The residential inventory includes many fine locations such as waterfront or golf course properties as well as smaller apartments away from the beach.
The Sales Department has ten fulltime sales professionals with over 150 years of sales experience. This department is led by Lee Hewitt who has been with Garden City Realty since 1981 and holds the prestigious CRS Designation. All agents at Garden City Realty are multi-million dollar producers and strive to help all customers and clients make their beach dreams come true.
